The smallsat of the Russian Technological University MIREA was created on the basis of the Geoscan 3U satellite platform.

The RTU MIREA1 spacecraft is designed for flight tests of an optical camera of the visible range and a receiver of signals from global navigation satellite systems GLONASS/GPS, conducting an experiment on inter-satellite communication using a receiving and transmitting module, as well as for conducting educational activities within the framework of the Space-π project.

The use of an optical camera of the visible range will allow us to study aspects of the formation of the Earth's cloud cover.

The use of the receiver of signals of global navigation satellite systems GLONASS / GPS allows the use of the method of radio-exchange sensing of the ionosphere. For this method, the sources of radio signals are the GLONASS/GPS spacecraft, and the receiver should be installed on a low-orbit spacecraft. Due to the influence of the ionosphere, the low-orbit spacecraft can receive navigation signals while being out of the line of sight of the navigation spacecraft.

A transceiver module is installed on the RTU MIREA1 spacecraft to provide an inter-satellite communication channel with the  «TUSUR-GO» spacecraft.
